About Franklin
History
You've probably heard the adage "success begins with a dream."
With such inspiration, Franklin's success story began in 1977 opening as a tiny school house comprised
of seven ready, willing and able preschoolers. Today, The Franklin Schools have expanded to a student
body of 295 enrolling children ages two through six. We are proud of the reputation we have established
in the community for excellence in education.
Think of The Franklin Schools as the wings of the mother bird who
nurtures her nest comprised of two schools: The Franklin Montessori School (FMS) and Franklin Country
Day Montessori School (FCD). Our school calendar and other notices many times are coded with the
abbreviations for the schools. Knowing your child's school helps clarify which events apply to your
child's classroom so you don't have to "wing it!"
 Faculty
The Franklin Schools are very proud of their professional, experienced
and highly trained staff of certified Montessori teachers and instructional
assistants. Talented and experienced classroom specialists enhance the
curriculum at The Franklin Schools. Continuing education workshops, conferences
and seminars are part of the ongoing staff development programs at Franklin.
What Makes Us Unique?
An extraordinary staff and enthusiastic student body maintain Franklin's
high standards for academic excellence. In addition to our lively campus,
in-house programs provide exceptional opportunities for Franklin students
to Go, Grow & Glow!
Franklin prides itself on its Performing Arts Department that generates
several amazing productions throughout the school year. Children learn
valuable life skills that prepare them for success in future fields of
their choice. Drama? Lights? Cameras? Action? YES! Franklin's Performing
Arts Department has it all! We are very proud of our unique drama program
rich in components for creative arts. Senior Staff member, Lucy Huff,
effectively wears the many hats of Writer, Director and Costume Designer,
working enthusiastically and creatively with her imaginative scripts,
bolts of fabric and the delightful energies of the children.
Lucy notes, experience shows her that, "Many times, children who
tend to be a bit reticent about performing tend to blossom and expand their horizons. They become more
relaxed because they are having fun. Drama gives them a chance to laugh at themselves and not take things
too seriously." She also finds that the children's leadership abilities really soar. Drama is a brain
stimulator. The children use their powers of concentration and rhythm to exercise their bodies and memorize dance
steps. As the students develop dialogue, think about facial expressions necessary to show various
emotions, learn stage right, stage left, pantomime, work toward a goal, follow direction, respond
on cue, memorize and retain lines and lyrics, they are building self-confidence through public speaking
and learning important life and academic skills connected with the sheer pleasure and exhilaration of a
job well done! The Performing Arts Department productions have earned Franklin's coveted Bravo Award!
