Montessori Parent University on Franklin's Campus
The next session of Franklin's Montessori Parent University will be held on Thursday, May 3rd from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Childcare is provided for children enrolled at Franklin.May 3rd's session is focused on Montessori math and is titled, "THE MONTESSORI MATH CURRICULUM AND HOW IT AIDS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF YOUR CHILD’S MATHEMATICAL MIND." Is math a mystery? Are you wondering how to help your child acquire math skills? Is it possible for 5 & 6 year olds to do complex addition, subtraction and even multiplication and division problems? Franklin Offers Sports Opportunity
As a convenient alternative to having to make "off campus" arrangements for sports, Kids in Sports is offered on Franklin's campus, 10500 Darnestown Road, Rockville, Maryland, as an extra afternoon program. Interested families can sign-up on the Kids in Sports website. The program is designed to teach children the basic fundamentals of sports in a safe, fun, friendly and supportive environment. Through an emphasis on sportsmanship, teamwork, respect and communication, the Kids in Sports program serves as a building block for young athletes. The program, which is open to children enrolled at Franklin and in our surrounding community, provides a fun & fit time for all who choose to register. Franklin's Speaker Series for PARENTS ONLY
Franklin's Speaker Series will feature the topic, "The Brain & Behavior" on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 from 7:00pm - 8:30pm in Franklin's Liberty Hall with guest speaker, Todd Grindal. Todd is a doctoral student and fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Prior to beginning his doctoral studies, he worked for six years as a teacher and school administrator at the preschool and elementary levels. He is a graduate of Montgomery Montessori Institute and earned a Montessori credential from the American Montessori Society. We hope you will join us for this VERY informative evening with Todd as he provides a succinct overview of the science of early childhood development and incorporates key concepts that emerge from decades of neuroscience research. He will focus on how early experiences shape children's later academic achievement, emotional development, physical and mental health. This is a popular event. Parking will be tight.
